Which M3U formats does iptvolt play on Android?

iptvolt reads M3U and M3U8 playlists, XSPF playlists, Xtream Codes logins and single stream links. Paste the link and the app works out which one it is. Groups become categories, tvg-logo gives each channel its logo, and tvg-id links it to the guide. Stalker and MAG portal links are not supported.

Stream headers from #EXTVLCOPT, #EXTHTTP or a |User-Agent= suffix are sent with the stream, for providers that need them. A playlist that mixes channels with movie and series entries is sorted into Live, Movies and Series. Step by step: how to add an M3U playlist and how to add Xtream Codes.

Why does iptvolt have a VLC engine?

Because IPTV sources use formats the native Android player doesn’t always open. HLS streams, the most common kind, play in the native player. MKV, AVI, raw TS and RTSP play in the built-in VLC engine, which also handles many movie files from Xtream libraries. The app picks the engine on its own.

If a channel still won’t start, Try other player switches between the two by hand. Audio tracks and subtitles can be picked on both engines, and a dropped stream reconnects on its own. Protected (DRM) channels can’t be played, and the app says so instead of showing a black screen.

Can I cast from Android to my TV?

Yes, with Chromecast, for free. Tap the Cast button in the player and choose your Chromecast or Google TV. Before anything loads, iptvolt checks whether the TV can play the stream. HLS, DASH, MP4 and WebM over http or https cast; DRM, MKV, AVI and raw MPEG-TS streams are refused with a reason.

While the TV plays, the phone is the remote: play, pause, the scrubber, behind-live and zapping control the TV. Play on this device brings the stream back to your phone, and a movie resumes where the TV left it. More in how to cast IPTV to your TV.

Is there an iptvolt app for Android TV or Fire TV?

Not yet. An app for Android TV and Fire TV is planned, without a date. Today iptvolt runs on Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad. Until the TV app exists, Chromecast and Google TV devices show the picture on the big screen, controlled from your phone.
