How to add an Xtream Codes login
Updated
At a glance
You need three details from your provider: the server URL with its port, your username and your password. In iptvolt, choose Xtream Codes login and enter them exactly, or paste a get.php or player_api link with Paste any link and the app fills in the login for you.
What do I need to add an Xtream Codes login?
Three details from your IPTV provider: a server URL, a username and a password. Providers send them in the welcome email or show them in their customer area. Some send a single long link instead, with the username and password inside it. Either works, and neither comes from the player you use.
Xtream Codes is the name of a server panel that many IPTV services run. With a login, the player signs in to that server and asks for each part on its own: live categories and channels, the movie library, series with seasons and episodes, the programme guide and your account details. That is why an Xtream login usually gives you more than a plain M3U playlist from the same provider. The M3U vs Xtream Codes guide explains the difference.
Before you start, have these ready:
- The server URL, copied in full, with
http://orhttps://and the port if there is one. - Your username and password. Both are case-sensitive.
- A service you are allowed to use. iptvolt is a player only and sells no logins. If you are unsure about a provider, read is IPTV legal? first.
What does the server URL look like?
It is a web address with a scheme, a host and often a port, for example http://example.com:8080. Enter it the way your provider wrote it. The port is the number after the colon, and the scheme is http:// or https://. Paths such as /player_api.php are not needed.
The parts, one by one:
- Scheme. Most panels use
http://; some usehttps://. Don’t switch one for the other on a guess: a server that only answers on http fails over https, and the other way round. If you leave the scheme out, iptvolt addshttp://. - Host. A domain name or an IP address. Copy it character by character; a single wrong letter means the server can’t be found.
- Port. The number after the colon. If your provider gives one, it belongs in the server field, for example
:8080. Without it, the request goes to the default port of the scheme, which is often not where the panel listens. - No trailing path. If you paste a server address that ends in
/player_api.phpor/get.php, iptvolt cuts it back to the server base. Trailing slashes are removed too.
The http or https choice matters again later if you cast to a Chromecast, because Chromecast may refuse unencrypted http streams. That is a limit of the TV device, not of your login. How to cast IPTV to your TV covers it.
Add the login in iptvolt
The steps are the same on iPhone, iPad and Android:
- Open the app. On first launch you land on Add your source. Later, you find the same screen under Settings, Sources.
- Choose Xtream Codes login under Or choose a type.
- Give the source a Name if you like. It helps when you add more sources later.
- Enter the Server URL, then your Username and Password.
- Tap Add source. iptvolt checks the login with the server and loads live channels first, then movies and series.
Your password goes into the device keychain, never into plain app storage, and it is never sent to our servers in readable form. If you later turn on sync with Pro, it travels to your other devices only inside the end-to-end encrypted sync. The free version holds one source; Pro adds unlimited sources.
You don’t need an extra EPG link for an Xtream login. The server provides its own guide, and iptvolt reads the server’s time zone so programme and catch-up times line up.
Can I paste a get.php or player_api link instead?
Yes. A link with get.php or player_api.php and your username and password in it is an Xtream login in disguise. Paste it with Paste any link and iptvolt takes the server, username and password from it and sets up an Xtream source, with movies, series and account status.
Such a link looks like http://example.com:8080/get.php?username=your-username&password=your-password&type=m3u_plus. Added as a plain playlist, it would give you one long channel list. Added as an Xtream login, the same account is loaded in parts, which is faster on a phone and keeps large catalogues within what the device can handle.
If you paste such a link into the Server URL field of the Xtream form, iptvolt also reads the username and password from it. Treat these links like a password: anyone who sees one can use your account, so keep them out of screenshots and forums.
Why does my Xtream login fail?
Usually because a detail is mistyped, the account has expired, or all of its connections are in use. iptvolt reads the server’s answer and names the cause instead of showing a generic error. These are the messages you may see, word for word, and what each one means for you:
- The server rejected this username or password. Check both for typos, capital letters and spaces copied from an email. In Sources the account shows Login rejected.
- This account has expired. Contact your provider to renew it. The app can’t change anything here. In Sources the account shows Subscription expired.
- This account has been disabled by the provider. or This account has been banned by the provider. Only your provider can tell you why.
- Couldn’t reach the server. Check the link and your connection. The host, port or scheme is wrong, the server is down, or your network blocks it.
- The server’s answer couldn’t be read. Check the server address. Something answered, but not an Xtream panel. Often the port is missing.
- Stalker / MAG portal links aren’t supported. Use an M3U link or an Xtream login instead. A portal address is a different system. Ask your provider for Xtream details.
Connection limits show up when you play, not when you sign in. Providers decide how many streams can run at once on one account. When the limit is reached, the player shows All connections in use with a line such as “Your provider allows 1 connection and it’s in use. Stop playback on another device, then retry.” Stop the stream on your other phone, TV box or old player, then try again. Before you play, Sources also shows how many connections are in use.
After you sign in
Once the login works, a few things are worth knowing:
- Account status. Sources shows the expiry date your provider’s server reports and how many connections are in use, and warns you when the expiry is close.
- Movies and series. They appear in their own tabs with posters, plots, seasons and episodes. Continue watching resumes where you stopped.
- Catch-up. Channels your service records get Start over and a list of past programmes, free. See catch-up TV.
- New server address. If your provider moves to a new server, add the source again with the new address.
If a single channel won’t play while others do, the stream may be offline or use a format the native player can’t open; Try other player switches to the built-in VLC engine. For everything iptvolt does with Xtream logins, see the Xtream Codes player page, and the support page for more checks.
Questions
Where do I find my Xtream Codes server URL?
In the welcome email or the customer area of your IPTV provider. It looks like http://example.com:8080. iptvolt and other players don’t supply logins; only your provider can give you one.
Do I need to enter the port?
Yes, if your provider gives one. The port is the number after the colon in the server URL. Without it, the request goes to the default port, which is often not where the panel listens.
Should I use http or https for the server?
Use exactly what your provider wrote. A server that only answers on http fails over https, and the other way round. If you leave the scheme out, iptvolt adds http://.
Can I add Xtream Codes with a get.php link?
Yes. Paste the get.php or player_api link with Paste any link. iptvolt reads the server, username and password from it and sets up an Xtream source with movies, series and account status.
Why does iptvolt say all connections are in use?
Your provider limits how many streams can play at once on one account. When the limit is reached, the server refuses new streams. Stop playback on another device, then retry.
